“Hello?”

“Good morning, is this the department of Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha?”

“Yes. It’s Sasuke. Who am I talking to?”

“It’s Naruto’s doctor. Sasuke, we have good news.” Sasuke’s face was suddenly illuminated.

“Really? About what?”

“He’s been already a complete week in the hospital and we have observed changes on him. Physical changes. He’s going to be able to go back home today; the only problem is that he will have to be in bed for a week and then he will have to move around with crutches.”

Sasuke was beaming on the other side of the phone. “This is awesome, thank you. But… What about the psychological aspect?” The raven asked with a suddenly trembling voice.

“I’m afraid we are not able to make it any better. We already did everything we were able to do. I’m sorry.”

“It’s Ok.” Sasuke said, softly.

There was a silence in the telephone.

“Naruto didn’t bring any clothes, so you may come for him when you want. –Oh! I almost forgot. If there is any problem with him, bring him to the hospital immediately.”

“Ok. Don’t worry. I’ll go for him immediately. Bye.”

There was a knock on the other side of the door, and Naruto, that wasn’t lying on the bed anymore, but was sitting on the grey couch, turned to it. “Yes?” From the other side, he heard a soft female voice. “Naruto? You can go home now. There is somebody waiting for you in the waiting room.”

Naruto rose, helped with the crutches. “Thanks, I’ll be there immediately.”

“Dear, are you sure you don’t want me to help you?”

Naruto sighed and rolled his eyes. “No. I can do it by myself. Thanks.”

There was no response on the other side of the door and Naruto knew the nurse had already left. He walked with difficulty to the door and opened the door. On the process, a crutch fell down onto the floor. “Fuck.”

Sasuke, on the waiting room, heard the sound of the falling piece of metal and also Naruto’s voice, so walked towards his room.  There he found Naruto making almost inhuman pirouettes to raise the fallen crutch. The raven haven’t seen his boyfriend, or whatever it was, in a week, for the blonde had told him to stay away from him.

The raven kneeled and raised the crutch. “Hi, Naruto. Are you ok?” He said as he gave the piece of metal to the blonde, with a shy smile. Naruto took the crutch in his hand. “Hi, Sasuke.” He said looking away from Sasuke’s deep, onyx eyes. “Do you need any help?”

“No, I can do it by myself. Thanks.” He said and started walking to the waiting room. Sasuke followed him, prepared to catch him if he fell.

Naruto did reach the waiting room with the crutches, and even more. He was able to get on the car, too, without Sasuke’s help. Sasuke noticed Naruto tried his best to not make contact with his skin; even when he was already over the car he noticed Naruto was about to jump off the window.

“Naruto, is there something wrong?” Sasuke asked as he stopped the car in front of a grey building. Naruto turned violently his head to face Sasuke. “Why do you ask that?” He said in a sharp voice. “Because of that. The way you answer, and how you try to make the least contact and physical contact it’s possible to you.” Sasuke answered in a low but slightly aggressive voice.

“Well, what else did you expect? For me it’s not easy either; having tons of people that say they know, and having them crying over you, when you don’t even know their names.” Naruto answered as he frowned. “To me, I’ve been alive for only ten days, but I already know what an adult knows: to walk, write, read. I cannot remember people. I don’t even know who am I. How do you expect me to treat you as if I loved you when I’ve been with you only twice? And I don’t want to insult anybody by saying this, but knowing that in my life previous to the accident I was gay and was about to marry a guy it’s not that easy…” The blonde said, lowering his voice more and more every second until it disappeared. Sasuke gave a heavy breathe.

“Come, I’ll help you out.”

Sasuke opened the door and went off of the car. He went to the other side and opened Naruto’s door. Naruto was wearing a shirt and pants that Kiba had borrowed him, so they looked very baggy on Naruto’s skinny body. Sasuke closed the door when Naruto ad already started to walk to the building and followed from behind, still not convinced on his ‘boyfriend’s’ ability to walk with crutches.

“In what floor do I…do we live?” Naruto asked when both of them were already inside of the elevator. “On the tenth.” Sasuke answered as he pressed the button that had a silvery ‘10’ on it. Naruto had his back against the mirror wall of the elevator, and Sasuke put his back against the mirror wall that was in front of Naruto, but tried to look everywhere except in Naruto’s eyes.

Already in the tenth floor, Sasuke opened a dark door and let Naruto in. He had never been there before, but he felt as if he already had. “So… You like your house?” Sasuke said as he took off a dark coat and threw it over a random couch. Naruto sat on a couch that faced the enormous window. “It’s cool, I guess. I like the sight.”

“From the bedroom it’s better. There’s a balcony in there.” Sasuke said sitting in front of Naruto. Naruto raised a blond eyebrow. “The bedroom?” He asked, remarking the first word. Sasuke shrugged. “Well, yeah. But if you want I can sleep here, on the couch.”

“That would be fine.” Naruto said, relieved.

There was an awkward silence between both of them, which lasted for at least three minutes.

“Uh, Naruto?” Sasuke said in an unsteady voice and introduced his hand in his pocket. “What?” Naruto said as his eyes followed the raven’s hand. “The police found this, and I wanted you to keep it. Only if you want, y’know. You don’t really have to.” Sasuke removed his hand from his pocket, with the form of a fist. Naruto raised an eyebrow. “What is it?” He said as he extended his hand to put it in front of Sasuke.

Sasuke put his fist over Naruto’s hand, and then deposited a golden ring on it. The ring was beautiful, it had small diamonds on the top and inside of it, it had written ‘Sasuke and Naruto Forever’. Naruto’s eyes opened widely when the ring fell on his hand. “W-what am I supposed to do with this?” He asked in an alarmed voice.

“Whatever you want to, but I cannot return it. You can throw it to a river, or melt it, you can even sell it. But I don’t want to have it.” Sasuke said in a soft, but now sure voice. Naruto folded his fingers around the piece of gold and diamonds. “But you spent a lot of money on this.” He said as he put it inside the pocket of Kiba’s pants. “Yeah, I did. But as I said, I cannot return it and I don’t want to see it again.” Sasuke said, looking away from Naruto’s blue eyes.

“Well, I guess I’ll keep it. But I don’t want to look at it, either.” Naruto said, lying back onto the couch. “It’s ok. You can do whatever you want to it.” Sasuke said and scratched the back of his neck.

“Sasuke. Am I ever going to get my memories back?” Naruto asked in a loud voice after less than ten seconds. “What?” Sasuke asked a little surprised. “If I am ever going to get my memories back! I’m sick of having people all around me feeling sorry, and I already told you that.” Naruto said leaning forward. Sasuke bit his lip. “You are never going to get your memories back, Naruto. Never. The doctor told me that. The only thing you can expect is your friends to tell you about your life previously to the accident, and then let you continue with your life.” Sasuke said trying to keep his voice low.

“And what about you, Sasuke?” Naruto asked, violently, in a harsh voice. “Are you going to continue your life just like that, when you were about to marry me before the accident? I don’t think so.” The blonde said. Sasuke fell something breaking inside of him. “Well, I cannot force you to do what you don’t want to. I’ll have to go on with or without you. And it’s not your problem. It’s mine.” He said in a rough voice.

“What would happen if I told you that I don’t want you to live like that? That I want you to make me love you again?” Naruto said. Sasuke listened to every word, but he paid special attention to the last question. “You would never want that. You are just coming home from being a week on the hospital after a car accident.”

“Well, I want that. I don’t really know you, but I know you are in pain because of me. I even know I told you to stay away from me a week ago, July 23rd. Your birthday. And I’m sorry for that.” Sasuke was astonished. How did he know all of this? And know that he remembered, he never told Naruto they were about to get married before the accident. “How do you--?”

“—somebody told me. Somebody that surely is one of the best friends you’ve had.” Naruto said, remembering every part of his conversation with Kiba Inuzuka. Sasuke opened his mouth several times, but no sound came out of it. The last time he did, he managed to say the three words he wanted to say. “Are you sure?”

Naruto hesitated for a second. “Not that sure, but if you made me love you once, I’m sure you can do it again.” Naruto said, forcing a smile that resulted very natural. Sasuke bit his lips before he nodded. “Well. I’ll do it. This is what I wanted to, on first place. Thank you.” Sasuke said with a crooked smile.

Naruto rolled his eyes. “Were you always this exaggerated?” He said, while he smiled a real smile. “No, not really. You were usually the one that exaggerated everything.” Sasuke said, and Naruto shook his head. “I’m just learning about me; let me believe in fake things for at least my first 2 weeks.” He said as he played with a small bandage on his arm. “Aren’t you going to give me a hug or something for letting you make me fall for you again?” The blonde said then, looking in Sasuke’s eyes, which made him feel a little uneasy.

Sasuke smiled. “I don’t have a problem with that.” He said and walked towards Naruto and wrapped his arms carefully around the other. Sasuke closed his eyes, but Naruto kept them opened and looked at the big glass window. “But you’re still sleeping on the couch.”

“I know.”
